School and Make up

Summer break is over - at least for me. But then again, thinking how there are no four seasons over here in SG, it means that my break never really started (which is true to some extent)

In anycase, school's starting, in about 12hours time and gone will be the days where I try to spice up my relationship with my bed. This thought is so depressing.

Okay, drama aside! I thought it'd be pretty interesting to blog about some of the make up that I'd be using for school this semester. :)

When I was in year 1, I kinda went OTT (Off The Top) and bought alot of things that I thought I would be using for school. But these items eventually never even made it out of their packaging - which is a waste of product and money. I mean, the product could be a gem, but because I never used it/don't know how to use it, it's pretty much condemned and worthless.

Which made me realised  how much I tried to please people and to 'blend in' because most of the girls in my school apply shitload of make up! Thankfully, I managed to find a few of the 'maskless' girls and yeah, the thought of dressing up to the nines kinda dissipated and everything became 'au naturale' - that means hello eye bags and yellow skin. hahaha.

Words aside! These are the products that I will/have been using for school.

And now, for the mini breakdowns and reviews on each of product.

Left to Right:
Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Stick in Natural
NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Natural
Essence Forget It! 3-in-1 Concealer

 1. Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Stick in Natural
This is a product that hit the shores of SG around this year or so and to be honest, I was a little skeptical about it initially. However, I tried it out in the stores and I was quite sold! The texture is creamy, but dries to a matte/satin finish! I wouldn't say it is an absolute matte that makes you look cakey, but rather, it's a pleasant healthy finish with subtle glow. It is easy to apply and really convenient to carry about for touch ups as well.

However, it's important to really moisturise your skin before application. I have dry skin at times and after a long day under the sun, my skin is drained of moisture and this product simply accentuates the cracks on my skin - not a pleasant sight.

2. NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Natural
My favourite blush, ever! Easy application, highly pigmented and lasts forever! The color is amazing and they have many shades for you to choose from if you're not an 'au naturale' person like me. HAHAHA! But on a serious note, this is a multi purpose product. I use this not only on my cheeks but also, after a long day at school and just right before I meet some friends for dinner, I'd just dab this on my lip to just brighten up my lifeless, perpetually sleepy and grumpy face. I think I made some new friends.

3. Essence Forget It! 3-in-1 Concealer
I've always wanted to try green correctors, just to see if it will reduce the redness on my face - especially near my nose area. And of course even though I have read a thousand and one articles on green correctors for red-faces AKA me, I had to try it to believe it. And yes, I believe that it does. I like how the product (all 3 colors) go on really smoothly. They're not exactly the most pigmented bunch of color correctors in the market, but they do their job pretty well. Do note that they are meant to be layered underneath your foundation/concealer, or a setting powder.

And these are what the colors are suppose to correct:
Green - Reduce Redness (around zits, sides of nose/mouth)
Salmon Pink - Under eye circles
Flesh tone - Generic concealing

Top to Bottom:
Rimmel's EXAGGERATE Waterproof Eye Definer
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Blackberry
Essence Multi Action False Lashes Mascara
Loreal's  Touche Magique Illuminating Concealer

4. Rimmel's EXAGGERATE Waterproof Eye Definer
I bought this by chance because they were having some offer and I was in a need of an eyeliner. To my surprise, this is pretty decent It stays on my eyes on it's own - which is a great feat because not many thing stay on my eyes :( This is in Black and I've been using it forever, pretty much on a daily basis. It's really waterproof because there are times when I'm mad lazy, and I don't use a make up remover. SO I just end up looking like a panda after a good shower. But hey, at least it means it stays and requires more than just water to remove it right? :)

5. Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Blackberry
And because I've been using #4 since forever, I wanted to switch it up a little by introducing some color - which I'm quite sure you guys would think that this is quite a fail for color wise because this blackberry eyeliner, as delicious as it sounds, comes off nearly quite like black. HAHA. But the subtle purple does peep through upon close inspection and my eyes appears softer and not as harsh as compared to a black eyeline. Doesn't smudge, lasts slightly longer that #4!

6. Essence Multi Action False Lashes Mascara
Not a wow-product, but it's decent enough for my everyday usage. It's competitive pricing definitely places it  to a higher advantage! The sad thing is that it clumps quite a bit and I have to scrap off the excess upon every usage. :( But it's REALLY waterproof. So far, no panda eyes. Still, I can't wait to finish this up because it doesn't really lengthen or volumizes my lashes - which is one of the main reason when I'm using it everyday. Haha. It provides slight definition to your eyes, nothing glamtastic though.

7. Loreal's  Touche Magique Illuminating Concealer
This is for my undereye circles!! After applying #3 - Essence's Forget It! 3-in-1 concealer, I'd apply this over. Blending this is a dream as the product is being dispensed by a click pen.One thing would be, the shades are pretty limited. I'm quite tanned now, so this product enhances the different skin color around my eyes and cheeks - not a good thing though. But it's alright because its high pigmentation and ease of application, AND its lasting power has already got me hooked on. I wouldn't suggest using this on zits because the consistency is slightly runny, so it doesn't really stay and conceal the zit. But if it's just a minor zit with slight discoloration around it, it works pretty well.

Left to Right:
The Face Shop FACEit Designing Cake Eyebrow in Shade 01
Silky Girl's Gloss on lip color in Sweet Blush 01

8. The Face Shop FACEit Designing Cake Eyebrow in Shade 01
It's a daily staple. Defines my brows and lasts forever on my face and in the casing. Haha, I can never finish this in my entire life - I'm pretty sure.

9. Silky Girl's Gloss on lip color in Sweet Blush 01
For color, for shine and for moisturising!

So what are products that you guys use for school? :)
