Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder SPF 18

Hello my friend, we meet again. It's been awhile, I mean, I missed Christmas and the New Year. It's already 2012!? I've been too stucked in my own bubble all these while and to be honest, I was quite enjoying it - without the interference of technology. But now that school has started, which means that it's impossible for me to stay away from technology, hence here am I with another product review.

I had this since last year, and it's my first ever face powder from Maybelline. Initially, I found this product to be mediocre, and with the given sponge pad, application was highly irritating - resulting in the neglect of this gem. However, one of my undisclosed resolution this year, is to use up things that I currently own, before buying more products of the same purpose. (ie, owning Revlon Colorstay Foundation and still buying another Maybelline foundation)

I was packing my stuff for a mini getaway during the long weekend and I found the mint compact powder, packed in one of my makeup pouches that I bring everywhere, but never really gotten down to using it. So I gave it a chance (3 day long test!) and wore it out to school to brace the insane weather.

Verdict?

LOVE IT.

I'm so ashamed of discarding this aside, but at the current moment, I'm proud to say that this is the first item that I have hit-pan in the longest time.

Unlike some face powder that mattifys your face to a complete smooth wax figure that often results in my skin flaking because it's too drying, this actually allows your skin to breathe. At the end of a 14 hour day, my skin looks fresh, alive and dewy, as compared to my usual loose face powder that causes flaking and patches cos it's simply too drying. Also, it has a sheer coverage that allows layering of the product and at the same time, not make you look like a walking piece of photoshop disaster.

There is a slight scent to it, however, nothing too OTP and it doesn't really bother me after the application.  I applied mine with a kabuki brush and there were no streaks or patches even after prolong wearing.

In a nutshell: I really love this alot, and if the stores still carry this, I'll purchase its refill. The packaging looks cheap, but hey, don't judge a book by its cover! The product within it is amazing.
